Here's a new piece I just finished a few days ago. It's a creature concept for the 'Creature of the Week' contest at conceptart.org. The brief was to design a "Hazy Purple Dream Stalker". The only requirements were that it was supposed to look nightmarish, 70% of it's body must be purple, and it must be covered in a haze.

Some pink roses done with gouache
9 in. x 12 in., Canson cold-pressed watercolor paper, W&N designers gouache

Purple flowers

Flower study done in gouache.

4.5 in. x 7 in., Canson cold press watercolor paper, painted with a No. 6 sable.

A couple of quick watercolor sketches done for practice tonight. The portrait took around 45 minutes and the ocean scene took about 15 minutes.

Some watercolor paintings I did strictly for practice. I'm trying really hard to get back into painting with watercolors and learned a lot by painting these. I totally forgot how hard and fun watercolors can be to work with! Hopefully there will be more paintings to post soon.
